Daddy-Daughter Dance

February 10, 2011

Brielle's school held a Daddy-Daughter dance, except they called it officially the "He and Me" dance for those that might not have daddies and wanted to bring another special male figure in their life. (Very PC, a good idea:)

Brielle was so excited and anticipating the dance for weeks. Mark would talk to her about it and they would plans about what it was going to be like and the dances they would do while there:)
The night before, Mark and Brielle picked out her dress and accessories and planned what time he would "Pick her up" and how they would go get a treat after the dance on their special "Date". IT was so cute!
So as we were getting Brielle ready, the doorbell rang, and her date had arrived...carrying a big box of chocolates for her!

You could tell she felt sooooo special! What a thoughtful Dad! You can see the excitement and happiness in her little face!

She gave him a HUGE hug and they opened it right away and she shared a piece with everyone.

We finished her hair real quick, (She wanted to look like Belle)

And she tested out the spinning radius on her dress while Dad changed into a matching pink shirt and tie.

Don't they look so cute? These are the moments that she will remember. This is what makes Mark such a wonderful father.
The two were off, arm in arm to the dance. (Where the doors were opened for her and she got to ride (in her booster) in the front seat of dad's car...shhh don't tell;) She thought it was awesome. She couldn't stop chattering about it all, Mark said and the second they walked into the dance doors, she clammed up and got all nervous! Mark tried to help her loosen up, they got punch and cookies, had their picture taken and made a cute cardboard frame for it to go in. But she was still very reserved. There was a slow song that came on so Mark pulled her to the dance floor and picked up and started swirling with her. The song, ironically, was "Butterfly Kisses", the same song that my dad chose to dance with me at my wedding. Mark said he got teary-eyed:) And Brielle was finally enjoying herself, laying her head on his shoulder and loving being with her daddy. Then a fast song came on and he put her down and thoroughly embarrassed her with some silly moves. (Not that he can't dance...oh, he can! He was just trying to make her laugh to loosen her up!) And she finally was dancing with him and having fun. But after a few minutes she was done. And so they left for ice cream!!:)
The boys and I were enjoying popcorn and a movie at home and didn't expect them home so early. I was alarmed, but everything was fine! They'd had a great time, and were ready to come home!:) You could just tell the whole night meant so much to Brielle and it was really special to her. I am so glad:)

Holy freaking cuteness!! The chocolates, the dress, the dance...ok, maybe it got me a little teary-eyed! I can't wait until my girls get to do stuff like this with my husband. And we are DEF letting them ride in the front, too. :D
